OccupyDenver - Saturday 10/15/2011

Went down the check out the OccupyDenver  scene across from the State Capitol building after seeing a couple of riot squad SUV's loaded with riot cops drive by.  The crowd was larger than I had expected - about 1000 while we were there in the mid-afternoon and it expanded to an estimated 3,000 at night. The crowd was very peaceful and non-confrontational.

From what I saw, the cops - who were almost as many number as protesters during the day - were on edge and heavily harmed with billy clubs, guns and pepper spray, which was used to disperse the crowd at night and many people were arrested.  Here's some of the pics we took:

I expect that this "Occupy" movement will continue to grow in number and expand into a lot more cities.  Until Obama starts to deliver on the promises which got him elected, such as cleaning up DC and Wall Street and dismantling the totalitarian legislation implemented by the Bush neo-con Government, I expect that this movement will become restless and violent.

I had to laugh because Ann Coulter was on Fox News telling the viewers that Bush allowed Lehman to fail and that Obama was responsible for bailing out Goldman and AIG.  I would like to correct that statement on behalf of the mildly retarded Coulter, because it was actually Henry Paulson, former Goldman CEO, who planned out - in conjunction with Tim Geithner - who was head of the NY Fed at the time - the game plan to let Lehman collapse and then devised the plan to bailout Goldman Sach and the other big banks who were catastrophically exposed to AIG - along with the scheme to have the Government takeover AIG.  All this was set-up before Obama took office, although recall that Obama and McCain suspended their campaigns to help devise this plan.  Geithner - despite being a confirmed tax cheater/dodger - was inserted into the Treasury Secretary position in order to oversee the implementation of the plan devised under Bush.

Obama - in a gesture of complete hypocrisy - claims to embrace the Occupy Wall Street agenda.  If that were even remotely true, Obama would immediately stop taking campaign money from Wall Street firms - which are Obama's largest contributors - and give back any money not spent that has already been accepted.

Unfortunately, as I explained to my companion, we will not see any change until the majority of the citizens of this country engage in some kind of revolt/revolution, as this has been what it has taken all throughout history to effect the kind of change that is now required to change our system.

"Until Obama starts to deliver on the promises which got him elected"

How about the fucking, lying emperor starts here...

Oct 27, 2007 Barrack Hussain Obama:

“I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am President, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank.“

I despise the despicable whore, Barry O.

God, I'm glad I didn't vote for the lesser of the two evils. I didn't vote!! I'm sane!!

I went to the demonstration to get my fair share of abuse...

Didn't plan on it but when I came out of the pet store, there they were, over 2000 (in the Pacific NW) two blocks away. I decided to find out what it was all about. They had just started marching right down the center of one of the main streets. A couple of drums were beating and they were chanting "Do you know what democracy is?" followed by "THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY IS!" I have to admit, I was taken in by the heavy pulse of the Collective. I joined in. We marched around, taking all four lanes of the city streets. The cops were there but apparently were told to ONLY direct traffic around the area so we were free to do our thing. I was charged at first. It felt like the late 60"s when I danced around the fringes of that movement, sort of. There were 90 year olds and little children and everything in between. I couldn't quite figure out what other themes there were, at first, except for the "Occupy Wall Street" baseline.

After about 30 minutes I began to feel something was amiss. No political signs and nothing about the fake Obama. There seemed to be an underlying "Socialistic" aroma permeating the crowd. I started to feel uneasy. Not outwardly, but deep inside, like the world that I knew no longer existed. Like who are these people? What do they REALLY want, a free ride? I don't know but I didn't like it. Not that all were in the same boat. I sensed there were those who really, truly got it, but they were few and far between sailors. (Don't get me wrong, we need for people to wake up and maybe these demonstrations will be the trigger to ignite the masses, but I sense the whole orchestration for this movie's script was written last century)

When the revolution takes place I wondered how many in this group would be up against the wall and how many would be part of the firing squad.

    This really spooked me.

...we are way over our heads folks. The world has changed and, for the moment, not for the better. Time to stamp the passport for the other side of the planet... or the far reaches of the Horse Head Nebula.

I am glad that the man in the street, so to speak, is finally starting to ask the right questions. Yet it is difficult to tell if the reporting on this is just spin, or something more devious. Coulter either simply doesn't have her facts straight (most likely), or doesn't have a clue about what she's blithering about, or is being deliberately deceptive. I also note that Breitbart is reporting that Occupy DC organizers have been emailing brand-name journalists, such as Ratigan and Taibbi, who report on OWS without disclosing their role in helping OWS shape its message. I am not sure if this is quite the outrage that Brietbart seems to think it is. But the attack on this movement is gearing up. I hope that the WH will fail in trying to brand themselves as on OWS's side. I would hope that no one could fall for this, but I do not underestimate the Demo propaganda machine. And, natch, the Republicans don't even try to pretend that they are not completely captured.

  4. "...we will not see any change until the majority of the citizens of this country engage in some kind of revolt/revolution..."

This is what the those in power refuse to understand right now. They think this will all blow over and the protesters will all wander off and go back home. Sadly, they will use local police forces as Nazi storm troopers as has already been seen in NY and Denver. This will only get worse and the level of violence will increase. But, as Gerald Celente is purported to have said, "When the people have nothing left to lose, they will lose it." I'm sadden that I've lived long enough (67 years) to see what this country (and the world) has come to. :(

William is cool. I think he's just reiterating one of the 3 essentials that we ALL need to keep handy:

gold, food, and lead to protect the first two.

  8. I, too, have been down to Dvr OWS numerous times.
This report is fair and accurate.
What is heartening is the cross-generational, socio-economic support.
Police presence from State and Local is over-reach; at times they are calm but then the radios crackle and they become quite edgy. BIG support teams on the side streets, hidden in Parking Garages etc.
THIS may be the start of a real response by the Citizens.

  9. Got it Dave and I respect William as well. So please don't take my post as disrespect at all, that was not my point.

I frown on Gun talk, unless one truly intends to start blazing away and that takes us to an entire new level at which we should all fear.

I much prefer peaceful methods for the time being.

And yes one must stock up on essentials.

    Again no disrespect intended William.

    Be well

What is the Occupy Everywhere movement? Occupy Wall Street/Occupy Everywhere is an ongoing series of demonstrations that began in New York City and have spread to major cities across the United States. These are peaceful protests against social and economic inequality, corporate greed, and the influence of corporate money and lobbyists on government.

    America’s ‘Primal Scream’

More broadly, there’s a growing sense that lopsided outcomes are a result of tycoons’ manipulating the system, lobbying for loopholes and getting away with murder. Of the 100 highest-paid chief executives in the United States in 2010, 25 took home more pay than their company paid in federal corporate income taxes, according to the Institute for Policy Studies.

Living under Communism in China made me a fervent enthusiast of capitalism. I believe that over the last couple of centuries banks have enormously raised living standards in the West by allocating capital to more efficient uses. But anyone who believes in markets should be outraged that banks rig the system so that they enjoy profits in good years and bailouts in bad years.

The banks have gotten away with privatizing profits and socializing risks, and that’s just another form of bank robbery.

“We have a catastrophically bad misregulation of the financial system,” said Amar Bhidé, a finance expert at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. “Its consequences led to a taint of the entire system of modern enterprise.”

  15. PLEASE DO NOT VISIT NEW YORK
For all the good it will do, I just sent the following email to Mayor Bloomberg's office:

"All the goodwill built up for NY after 9/11 has been totally dissipated with the Nazi Brown Shirt tactics of the NYPD.
    http://www.alternet.org/newsandviews/article/680944/video%3A_24_arrested_at_citibank_for_attempting_to_move_their_money/#paragraph3
SHAME ON YOU! I will go out of my way to beg, plead, and cajole everyone I know, and can reach via the internet, to NEVER, EVER visit New York again. You and your storm troopers are disgusting!"

I sent this email to everyone I know because I am so angry at what has taken place, and continues to take place, in New York (and elsewhere). If you agree, please send this on to everyone you know as well. Thank you.

  16. A LESSON IN DEMOCRACY & OUR MOST EXCELLENT ADVENTURE IN NYC

These people heard Romney say that corporations are people too. They get it. They know our politicians from both parties are captured by the mega-corporations and do their bidding. They know why the Federal Tax code is 60,000 pages. They know who contributes to Obama, Romney and the rest of the bought off hacks running this country. They know Perry and the rest of the fundamentalists are hypocrites. They know the system can’t be changed incrementally by electing the same people who put the system in place.

The way to make the change right now is to get registered Republican, right now, then go to caucus next year!
Feb 7th in the evening, at a location near you, is the time to get voted through to the next level.

Caucus is the only way to support peaceful change through Ron Paul for President. Everything else is just talk. Get to your caucus!

  18. The markets are surely reacting to the populace occupying the financial centers of major European and North American cities. We even had major protests in Toronto where tents were set up at Queen's Park, the home of our provincial government.jyotishi
