Anyone who still defends Obama must read that - otherwise you have no business even voting. Lew Rockwell wrote a brief editorial in which he correctly argues that the best choice for Americans is to not vote. I made this argument in 2008 and was derided by all the supposed "patriots." Now I have several friends/colleagues who understand that not voting is better than voting:
On the other hand, we do have the freedom not to vote. No one has yet drafted us into the voting booth. I suggest that we exercise this right not to participate. It is one of the few rights we have left. this country is about what it (mostly) deserves. At all levels, from the corrupt banksters et all, to the union employees to the underclass on all sorts of welfare and not even trying we might as well hear the chant "we want" .

People talk and bitch about what the right thing to do but when someone comes forward and offers it (ie Simpson Bowles (and that was watered down)or Ron Paul (he is a tad too focused but gets the economic issues nuts on correct) they get pushed aside.
So the majority rules--even if they are too dumb and selfish to vote.
I think a spoilt vote sends a stronger message than a no show!!!

Which is why I've always made the argument that voting ought to be a privilege and not a right, since the average Jane and Joe are too ignorant to be aware of what they're doing. Hell, I need a license to operate a motor vehicle since any ignorance on my part can be fatal not just to myself but to others as well, so why not some type of licensing arrangement before being allowed to cast a ballot? Especially when the repercussions affect anyone and everyone? The concept of being permitted to vote simply based on age alone, without demonstrating a spark of perspicacity or maturity, strikes me as insane. On a side note, I do not believe that those who draw social assistance on a continuous and permanent basis should be allowed to vote. Why should they be accorded the same power when their only vested interest in society is to milk it, and me the taxpayer, of every cent possible. It's bullshit.

ReplyDeleteI am well armed with a packet of texta pens and crayons and spend alot of time in that booth, more than most, drawing pictures of pigs with their snouts in the trough, erect and flacid penises, a pair of hairy balls and usually come up with some interesting comments for the tick boxes. 7 boxes is good for "Eat Shit" - if you get my drift.

I feel like this is the result of the feeling of powerlessness. I don't know that I like the idea of not voting but I certainly understand the thoughts behind it and the emotions.

In most locales, a write-in is wasted, and typically wastes the entire ballot.
DeleteIf Ron Paul is not the Republican nominee, consider using your votes to help the 3rd parties. In that way your vote and your displeasure are counted.
