Thoreau Came To Mind Today...

"Disobedience is the true foundation of liberty. The obedient must be slaves."

Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.”

I thought both of these quotes were appropriate in the context of what is unfolding politically, economically and socially in this country today.

  2. Great quote...
If only quotes like these could REHABILITATE the humanities in our own eyes, and give us the incentive to READ SOME PHILOSOPHY and LITERATURE (the classics, to learn where "we" come from) instead of all the how to books that now pollute on line and in our bookstores...

  4. Ha, I just read No Country for Old Men last week! The total lack of punctuation was a little weird.

I have smoked fatties up at the blog, hee hee.

  5. GYC, those looked insanely tasty!

The lack of punctuating conversations is a post-modern style of writing. I actually really like it because I think it makes you really focus on the content of the diaglogue and it makes you think twice about who is saying what. I also like the way the stream of conscious speeches by the sheriff are italicized. I think that is the author's voice/point of view.

You should read The Road now!
